"Chocolate Cures Cancer"
"Chocolate Stops Strokes"
"Chocolate Diet Miracle"
April Fools!
But seriously, how many of us, Sisters and Brothers, have seen such claims online, in flyers and even in stores and on packages. These headlines are showing up more and more these days. A week doesn't go by that your Chocolate Priestess doesn't see see a report about a medical or scientific study about the wonderful things that eating a bit of specific chocolate can do for a small group of people with a particular condition.
The mass media reports though often glaze over the specifics of the study or their details are ignored by retailers and chocolatiers who are looking to make some quick money. This is the big reason why I take the time to look at some of these studies and ask what I believe are honest questions. I hope you've started asking these questions yourself.
So today, there will be false news and you might get tricked, but when it comes to the food you put in your body don't believe everything you read or hear and certainly don't rush out to buy the latest miracle chocolate.
Sisters and Brothers, may you, too, take the time to slowly appreciate what the Divine and human ingenuity have offered you in chocolate.
