Post Christmas Chocolate at Sam's Club Part 1

This past weekend we went to Sam's Club which I bet several of you have heard of, it is a a general good way for us to stock up on big supplies once a month or so.  While there we noticed their aisle of left overs from Christmas and among them were several candy gifts.  After looking through the ingredients on all the choices and eliminating any that had nuts, we got three boxes for between $2.50 and $5.  Today is my first review of the three we bought and how you can use these for future holidays and events or simply enjoy their contents in moderation.

First up is this "Twinkle" rectangular box.  Notice that the colors of the box, red, white and silver can be Christmasy but can't they also be Valentine's Day or simply a nod to someone you know who loves red or silver or the two together?  The ribbon has re-enforced edges so you can undo and save it to use on other things if you want. The box itself is very sturdy and can be reused.  It is a fake-out though in that it only opens on one side not the top you might think at first glance.  I kept both ribbon and box and will reuse them in the future.

Inside was two pounds of fudge covered graham crackers in two flavors: Milk Chocolate and Peppermint, the ones with white lines are supposed to be the Peppermint.  Here's the only problem with these treats: the Peppermint ones barely taste like peppermint, in fact, I didn't tell one person in my family what flavor they were and there was no different they could discern.  So I can't recommend getting these for the peppermint lover in your life but they are in line with the chocolate covered graham crackers you can find in most grocery stores around the USA.  At this reduced price they are an excellent buy and the box, as I said, could be used for numerous events.  These do contain milk, soy and wheat as well as cocoa  powder if any of these are an allergy concern.  1 large, about 2.5 inches square cracker has 140 calories, 5g saturated fat, 100mg sodium, 1g fiber, 12g sugars, 2g protein, with 2% calcium and 4% iron an adult needs daily.  So make sure you consume in moderation.

The tag says the food was made in the USA and the box in China and that the crackers are best if eaten by the first of August 2010.  So if you can still find these in your local Sam's Club, give as a gift by July so your friend, family member or loved one has time to enjoy.

This weekend I'll be reviewing one of the lovely boxes of chocolate that has been submitted to The Chocolate Cult from Van's Chocolates. So make sure you check us out by Saturday afternoon -- there's a lot of variety here so this Sacrament will take me hours.

Sisters and Brothers, may you too take the time to slowly appreciate what the Divine and human ingenuity have offered you in chocolate.

I also bought these after Christmas and they are delicious! Went back for more, but they were gone. Do you know if you can get them anywhere. I make my own, which are pretty good, but I would still like to get some of these. You are right, the packaging is very sturdy and reusable.

I don't know, lemee, but I'd check with Sam's and see if they sell anything else by that same company.

Thanks for reading The Chocolate Cult. I hope you continue to read.
